Sammi

BHsc Clinical Nutritionist

Sammi is a Certified Practising Nutritionist (CPN) with the Australasian Association and Register of Practising Nutritionists (AARPN) and a registered practitioner with the Australian Natural Therapists Association (ANTA). Sammi completed a Bachelor of Health Science at Torrens University Australia, where she completed more than 300 hours of clinical placement at the Practice Wellbeing Centre in Surry Hills. During this time, she supported clients with a wide range of health concerns, refining her skills in holistic assessment, personalised care, and evidence-based nutritional support.

As a mum of two, Sammi understands firsthand that building sustainable healthy habits isn’t always linear. Life moves through different seasons, some busy, some overwhelming, some beautifully full and our priorities shift accordingly. Sammi offers a level of understanding and compassion for the unique health challenges that women face.

Sammi’s practice was created with real life in mind, a supportive, compassionate space where you’re met exactly where you are, without judgment. Through attentive listening and an individualised approach, she empowers individuals and families to nourish their bodies in ways that are sustainable, joyful, and realistic.

She is passionate about supporting women through all stages of life, helping them manage their health in ways that are nurturing, practical, and empowering. A passionate home cook and firm believer that food is far more than nourishment, Sammi sees the act of creating food as a form of self-love, a way of tending to the body, honouring cultural roots, and fostering connection. She is dedicated to guiding people toward a more intuitive, confident, and fulfilling relationship with food, one that celebrates both health and the inherent joy of eating.

 FAQs

  • A Certified Practicing Nutritionist (CPN) is a tertiary educated, degree qualified, clinically trained Nutritionist (Practicing Nutritionist) whose qualifications have been assessed and accepted as meeting the training and competency standards of the Australasian Association and Register of Practicing Nutritionists.

CPNs are bona fide primary care nutrition practitioners who practise Clinical Nutrition, which includes dietary modification (applied within a Clinical Nutrition/Nutritional Medicine paradigm) and the prescribing of dietary supplements for both nutrient repletion and complex nutritional medicine purposes.

The sector within which clinically trained nutritionists operate is self-regulating independent and distinct from other forms of self-regulation in the dietary services space and has been formally recognised within Australian government legislation since at least 1989, via the inclusion of clinically trained nutritionists in the Therapeutics Goods Act.

A CPN should not be confused with a non-clinically trained nutrition scientist (also termed a nutritionist) who will not have undertaken supervised Clinical Nutrition clinical practicum training, in combination with the required clinical skills theory curricular (i.e. pathophysiology, pharmacology, independent clinical examination, independent complex case taking, counselling, and independent Clinical Nutrition / Nutritional Medicine prescribing).

  • A clinical nutritionist is a qualified practitioner trained in the assessment, and management of nutritional and dietary issues. They use evidence-based nutritional therapies to support clients with a wide range of health concerns, such as digestive issues, hormonal imbalances, nutrient deficiencies, fatigue, chronic conditions, and overall wellbeing.

Clinical nutritionists are educated in nutritional biochemistry, human physiology, pathology, clinical assessment, and therapeutic dietary planning. They look at the body through a holistic lens, recognising that health is influenced not only by what we eat but also by lifestyle factors, cultural background, daily routines, stress, and life’s ever-changing seasons.

    Key areas of support include:

    • Digestive issues (incl. irritable bowel symptoms)

    • Women’s health (incl. hormonal health, menstrual cycle support and pre conception)

    • Nervous system support (e.g. sleep disturbance and prolonged fatigue)

    • Nutrient insufficiencies and deficiencies (assistance in interpreting pathology and functional testing and how to navigate treatment)

    • Immune system and skin support

    • Weight management

    • General wellbeing

As a Therapeutic Goods Advertising (TGA) Certificate of Exemption holder, a clinical nutritionist may also prescribe practitioner-grade nutritional supplements when needed, ensuring clients receive safe, high-quality, and targeted support.

  • Consultations with a clinical nutritionist are typically not covered by Medicare. However, some Australian private health funds may offer a rebate for nutritional consultations. It's best to check directly with your health insurance provider to confirm your coverage.

  • Yes, clinical nutritionists can recommend and order various functional tests and general pathology tests (like blood tests). These tests come with an out of pocket cost, as they are not covered by Medicare when ordered by a clinical nutritionist. However, for basic blood tests covered by Medicare, they can provide a referral letter for your GP and work collaboratively alongside your GP.

We love food that loves you back
